Good race- now give me that medal!

Celia ran the Soldier Field 10 mile race today.
Here's Josie stealing her medal after the race.

Back in Humboldt Park

Manhattan Josie

Here's some footage of Josie in Manhattan- in Central Park, on the subway, and in Times Square. The final shot was taken by Josie, who was holding the camera while rolling down 44th St.

A beautiful peninsula

Just a quick pic that shows Josie standing on the outline of Michigan surrounded by the Great Lakes at the playground (a nice one!) located behind the Michigan Welcome Center (which is the first rest area we hit across the border in Michigan on our drive from Chicago).

Michigan's state motto is "If you seek a beautiful peninsula, look about you."

We didn't take many other pictures on our brief Ann Arbor house-hunting trip, but we'll keep you posted on the outcome. We should know if we've found a place shortly.

At the Algonquin

Maybe when Josie is older we can go back to the Algonquin and have a chance to explore.

This time around, we made do with a few trips out and about in the city and hanging out in the room. As you can see, Josie loved it!

Josie in Joisey

Josie's Jersey shore photo shoot--turn to the left.

OK, now turn to the right. Perfect!

Now...big smile for the camera!

Great job! Let's stroll along the boardwalk now.

RIP Garfield

Behind our hotel (which looks a little like a Soviet compound but is apparently the only hotel right on the beach to be found between NYC and Atlantic City) there is a small monument called Seven Presidents Park. Over the years, seven presidents have visited Long Branch, NJ and there are six plaques commemorating each. James A. Garfield gets a whole statue because he died in Long Branch. He came to the shore to recover after being shot and died two months later.

Josie having a mildly somber moment in Presidents Park.

Scenes from NJ

Josie on the train from Long Branch to Penn Station, NYC.

Josie and the Weez hanging out in the lobby.

Josie and Oscar

In NYC, we had a chance to meet up with our friends Scott & Cybele and their almost-two-year-old Oscar. When he wasn't talking about his favorite trains and buses, he enjoyed showering attention upon Josie.

She was not amused.

We also think this shot looks a little like she's a news anchor about to deliver some deeply serious news of the day and then finish with a "Back to you, Oscar."

Somewhere near Provo

Immediately following my Utah Library Association presentation, we drove out to Springdale, Utah, about 45 minutes from Sandy. A friend who Jack hadn't seen since high school is on the music faculty at BYU and lives out there with his family (three cute kids and a very nice wife). Bicentennial Park is down the street from their house and we went there to hunt for minnows in the pond and hang out.

Hunting for minnows requires intense concentration.

Josie wonders if we've left her to fend for herself in the mountain valley.

I like Utah!

Josie and I pose for the camera.

A very big tree stands in the center of the park.

Josie practices for her fastest baby crawling race while Mom cheers her on.

Hey! They have swings in Utah!

Some Utah pix

We began our latest travels with a night in Salt Lake City. The mountains are not too far off from the downtown area.

The trees are in bloom in SLC.

Out for a walk near Temple Square.

Cute hat shots

I think I'll go for a swing today.

I've got my hat on and I'm ready to go!

Sometimes I like to take my hat off.

A tip of my hat to all of my blog readers! Stay classy!

Gun show

Check out my huge biceps (AKA "guns").

Yeah, I've been working out a lot. I do a lot of curls, push-ups, that kind of thing.

Can't break steel, pal.
