Josie at the library (again) and reading on the way

These are a little blurry because they were taken with my cell phone, but we haven't remembered to bring the camera with us lately, so they'll have to do!

Josie loves to read her "First Words" book when she's in the car. She will stare at it intently and point out various things to us when we come to get her out.

Here's Josie at the downtown library in the play area. She always seems to head straight for this magnetic white board to pull off a few of the shapes and then run around with them.

Josie now knows that a car (or anything with wheels) says "Vroom, vroom!"

Scenes from the dock

Jack's parents live down the street from a small lake--here is a shot of Josie on the dock.

Another dock shot.

Strolling with Grandma and Grandpa.

Josie had a teething bagel which you'll notice in all of these shots. In this one, it looks like she's furiously trying to devour it as she keeps an eye out for approaching marauders.

Scenes from the Hands On Museum

A few weekends ago, we joined the nearby children's science museum called "Hands On." They have a toddler room for the four-and-under crowd. We didn't get many good shots this time around, but we're hoping to get there regularly. Here is a picture of us at the water table. Don't worry--that's not a real turtle she's about to bite the head off of.

I thought this picture was kind of funny--Josie looks so forlorn in the back of this firetruck with the stuffed dog she latched onto. I don't think they'll be using this one for Museum publicity.

More scenes from this week in Josie--BBQ!

One of my coworkers, who happens to live around the corner from us, hosted a farewell BBQ for another coworker (who is moving to another job within the University). I somehow managed to miss getting any pix of the guest of honor and the hostess, but here are a few candids. This pic features Milton (I think that's his name) the turtle.

A shot of the cool treehouse!

There was some stickering that went on. Mostly inflicted by my coworker's daughters.

You can't tell from this picture, but Josie is chewing on her new favorite food--cheesy puffs!

Auggie doggy.

Niiiiiiiigh, niiiiiiigh (nice, nice). Josie is also probably panting here, which is her version of what a dog says.

Scenes from this week in Josie

While at first glance this picture may look like it depicts a horrible crime scene, it actually details Josie resting her head on Dada and petting Zeeb. As Josie likes to say, "Niiiiigh, Keeee!" (translation: Nice Kitty!)

Josie showing off some feats of strength--those are both filled with 10 pounds of cat litter!

This is a great book--Bow Wow Orders Lunch. Not to give it away or anything, but it shows a sandwich in various stages of being built: Bread. Cheese. Bread. Cheese. Bread. Bread. Bread? No! Cheese! Bread. Cheese? No. Meat. OH! Bye.

What's the Dewey Decimal number for cuteness?

Josie takes a quick break from running around at the library earlier on a rainy Saturday morning. She likes to sit on the shelf.

Back to the pool

I'm serious, Mom...you really need to take me into the pool now.

What? I can't have a cracker after swimming? That 30-minute rule is an old wives' tale.

I like swimming!

Going incognito

Uh, oh...I think I see some paparazzi lurking over there. I am *not* having my swimsuit photos all over Us Weekly and People again this year.

There. That's better. They'll never recognize me.

Back to the farm

I took Josie to Domino's Petting Farm the other day...she had been once before, but it was my first trip. Here she is hanging out on the lawn near the pond.

Time for Farm Yoga!

This picture was taken as the alpaca was finishing up a story..."So I says to Mabel...chomp, chomp, chomp...Mabel, I says...chew, chew, chew..." PS I think that one is the alpaca. One of them is a llama, but I think that's the other one in the background.

You know what are cute? Baby goats.

Surprisingly, adult goats are not only *not* that cute, they are kind of terrifying, especially when there are a large number of them going "Mmmaaaaah!!!" in their deep, scary voices and looking at you with their weird, sideways pupils. Josie was not alarmed at all, but I was.

Fancy rooster...there seemed to be a few of these at the farm, or maybe this one just kept running all over.

Did you get a look at all of those ducks and geese in the pond down there?! Wow!

South Dakota...

Where the buffalo, and Jamie, roam.
