Another Joke Falls Flat

Me (patting Harriet's head): Hmm, you must be from Baldy-more!

Josie: No, she was in Mama's tummy and then she came out at the hospital.

Sleep smiles!

Ready for the snow

Ruffle Butt II: Electric pantaloons

You may remember Ruffle Butt I from Josie's first Xmas party: http://celiajackbaby.blogspot.com/2008/12/first-holiday-party.html

This year, Josie had a new pair of Ruffle Butt tights and was happy to oblige when I asked her to show them to me.

Xmas 2010!

Whoo! Number one Xmas! Who had an awesome Xmas? You did! And we did!

Awake! Asleep.

Awake!

Asleep.

You have a new email from...

...the dog that lives in the computer (and the dog that lives down the street)!

Josie *loves* her Leaptop computer that Aunt Missy and Uncle Bob and her cousins sent. It's got all kinds of music and animals and letters and other fun stuff, including "emails." A dog named Violet is the "voice" of the computer and some of the email is from her...we can also set it up to send more customizable emails, like from Nina, a dog that Josie likes who lives in our neighborhood, as well as more traditional email senders, like Nana and Grandma and Grandpa.

First bath!

Harriet had her first bath on Xmas (she had some bellybutton things going on so we couldn't put her in water at first). She seemed to like it, or at least didn't put up a fuss at all.

All clean and dry.

Cousins!

I didn't get a good picture of all of the cousins together, but Josie had a great time playing with her big cousins Ben and Solana and they had fun holding their new cousin Harriet.

Solana wrote to us before she came out to visit from New York to ask if it would be okay to hold the baby.

Ben was impressed by Harriet's strength when gripping his finger (although in this picture she has released her grip).

Josie Simpson, the chef*

Josie got a chef's hat and apron along with some cooking utensils from cousin Solana. I turned one of the gift boxes into a little stove for her and she enjoyed cooking some "pancakes" (which were actually beanbags from a bean bag toss that Nana sent to her).

Here she models the outfit and is also holding one of her Singamajigs. In retrospect, the purchase of the Singamajigs was perhaps a mistake. They are supposed to harmonize, but really they are just kind of annoying: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajNaKoWUe3w

The Singamajigs are currently residing in the top shelf of the closet, but if Josie asks, they're ummm...visiting some out of town friends.

*Jack once had a phone message from a woman who was looking for "John Simpson, the chef." She wanted him to cater a party and I think he was mildly tempted to reply.

Backpack!

The only thing Josie requested whenever we asked her what she hoped Santa would bring was a back pack.

She was pretty impressed that he remembered and now wears the backpack proudly to school everyday.

Xmas morning

We called out to Josie to come and see what Santa had brought...

She came around the corner cautiously and then, not pictured, immediately ran back into her room yelling, "Nooooo!"

We finally coaxed her out and she gazed for awhile at the tree and all of the presents.

Sleepy head pat

Don't bother me...I'm sleeping.

Pat, pat, pat. "I love you Ha-wee-et."

OK, I'll admit...that felt kind of nice. Thanks, big sis!

Sister love

Aww...Harriet loves her big sister.

And Josie loves her little sister!

Nobody better mess with my sister!

"Never give in..."*

There's no denying that some babies just look like Winston Churchill:

*"...except to convictions of honour and good sense."

the Josie Book II hits the shelves

You may remember the original Josie Book. I used blurb.com's software to make it and it features pix from Josie's first hours through the end of her first calendar year of 2008. You can take a look at the whole book here: http://www.blurb.com/books/522003

Now, at long last, the sequel is available. The Josie Book II features pix from the year in Josie 2009. Yes, it's 2011 now. Yes, I am slow. I will hopefully have a 2010 book (featuring the arrival of Josie's lil' sis!) finished sometime before the next decade, but for now this will have to do. You can go to the Josie Book II site and preview the whole thing: http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/1882096 And maybe someday I'll even get a Harriet Book together...maybe.

And speaking of pictures, highlights from Josie & Harriet's first Xmas together and the last few weeks will be posted soon, I swear. *Someone* (and I'm not naming any names) is maybe not as good a sleeper as I had alluded to earlier and has prevented me from having the time and/or energy to download pix from the various cameras and get them posted.
