Josie and her train

Some pix of Josie playing with her train set this morning. She had a nice sunny spot on the living room floor.

She preferred to roll the train on the rug rather than on the track.

Best of all (for mommy) she happily picked up all of the pieces and put them back in the toy bucket when she was done.

Josie's new table

We set up a small table just for Josie. It was among some of the many items we picked up at Ikea last week, including her big girl bed (pix of that to come)! I put the table together after Josie went to bed and when she woke up the next morning and saw it she said, "My table!" and then, "I got it from Ikea" with a satisfied nod.

Back in Ann Arbor

Jack brought Josie over to campus the other day. While they were waiting for me, he took a few shots in this alley off of South University.

This is another one for possible future-album-cover shots.

Some pix from the back porch

Josie has a new red chair that she likes to hang out in.

"Hello, Persian? This is Tabby. I'm just calling to say hi." (Josie often insists that she's Tabby and wants one of us to be Persian--she has a book that has some different kinds of cats in it).

I like summer in Ann Arbor.

Hanging out on the porch with Mommy is fun.

Josie in Gardiner, NY

One nice thing about driving versus flying is that we were able to stop on our way back from NH to visit Jack's sister and family in Gardiner, NY. This is a picture of Josie in the Gardiner public library where they have a very large stuffed sheep dog which she took a liking to.

The library is just down this rail trail from Jack's sister's house.

We were able to attend cousin Solana's last day of farm camp where they held a little farmers' market party. There were hats.

Solana won this hat.

Later, we hung out in Solana's room and she took out lots of her costume/dress-up stuff and put it on Uncle Jack. This was literally hours (or at least an hour) of fun.

Unfortunately, the tiara had fallen off by now and the sunglasses were gone, too. But Jack still got paid with Solana's play cash register money.

Josie really liked this toy bear of Solana's. It was running low on batteries, so its ears didn't wiggle up and down too much, but it still played "I Want Candy" pretty loudly and lit up.

Josie really liked Gardiner and hanging out with cousin Solana and Aunt Kathy and Uncle Dante!

Nana love

Kisses for Nana.

Reading "Time for Sleep, Sheep the Sheep" with Nana.

More Nana love.

Odiorne Point

We made it over to Odiorne Point State Park during our trip. Josie liked wading in the water with her Daddy.

Look! More rocks and shells!

This rock is a good spot fer sittin' n' thinkin'.

Some pix with the Ross cousins

We were pretty lax on taking group pictures on our trip out East...we don't have many pix of all of the cousins together, but even without the photo documentation, we can report that they all had a great time hanging out together.

Josie and Katherine (one month younger than Josie) hang out in the kiddie pool after their trip to York Beach.

These hula-hoops still say "Celia" and "Bobby" in black marker to distinguish whose is whose.

On Nana's next-door neighbors' swing set with Cassandra and Katherine.

This pic is kind of washed out, but it's a nice one of the cousins running around together.

"Night-night babies." Cassandra pretends to put Josie and Katherine to sleep on Nana's floor. They were both pretty willing to play along...it had been a long day.

Cousin Isabella loves to squeeze Josie.

Fish and release Josie

Look what Daddy caught off of the docks in Prescott Park. Hmm...she's too small...better throw her back in.

Just kidding, folks...I'm fine.

The magic of Etch-A-Sketch

We got mini Etch-A-Sketch pads for the four cousins and the three youngest were immediately busily concentrating on their drawings.

What? Can't talk now...Etch-A-Sketching.

Back to Etch-A-Sketching and now Cassandra joins in, too.

Josie at the beach

Here are some shots of Josie from our recent jaunt to the East Coast. We managed to get to York Beach in Maine and to Hampton Beach, too.

It's important to stretch before undertaking any beach activity. Plus, don't you like my bathing suit?

Hey...nice to see you at the beach. Glad you could make it.

Whee! I like Hampton Beach.

Watching the waves come in.

Beach baby.

All work and no play...

OK, maybe this makes me a bad mommy, but this picture of Josie*:

immediately made me think of this iconic image of Jack Nicholson from The Shining:

Jack pointed out that both of the above shots picture someone going kind of crazy at a lodge (Nicholson at the fictional Overlook Hotel and Josie during our stay at the Minnewaska Lodge in Gardiner, NY)

Just for kicks, here are some other Josie/celebrity look-alike shots from the past:

*Yes, we know that we have been slacking on the posting-pix-to-the-Josie-blog front. No posts at all from July! Shameful. We will try to remedy this and have some pix from the recent trip out to NH in the works.
