the Josie Book
We put together a small book of photos using some free software from blurb.com. You can preview the book and even order your own copy. PS If you order a copy, choose the softcover option.
Josie and Noah
Josie's friend Noah came over the other afternoon. Isn't he cute?
Noah leans in for a kiss while Josie tries to dodge.
Here's a rare shot where they're both smiling and looking at the camera.
I don't know what Josie is so fascinated by here, but Noah is content to gnaw on the ring.
Josie likes hanging out with Noah and sharing her toys! Thanks for the play date, Noah!

Back from Denver
Sorry for the stretch of radio silence on the Josie blog...Jack and Josie and I were in Denver attending the American Library Association's Midwinter Conference in Denver. Some of you may have heard that we were successful in finding a babysitter while we were there (we had a few overlapping meetings). Thanks, Janice, for responding to my plea on Facebook and recommending your niece! And thanks, Tricia, for being a super babysitter! Josie is grateful that she didn't have to attend any meetings (and so are we!).
Here are a few shots from Denver...sorry there aren't too many of the actual city. It was pretty grey and snowy while we were there. Plus, we were often rushing to and from meetings and didn't stop to take many pictures.
Josie hangs out on the couch in the lobby of our hotel.
Here's a silhouette shot of Josie taken in front of the window in our room.
Daddy and daughter take a nap.
Josie relaxes in her new jammies (thanks for the swell xmas gift, Noah!).
It was pretty cold in Denver. Snowy and slushy, too, but by the time we took this pic the worst of it had been cleared from the sidewalks.
We brought Josie's travel stroller along...you drag it behind you like a piece of luggage. I didn't realize how nicely it coordinates with the diaper bag.
This is a shot outside taken in the small park in front of our hotel. We staged it so that I would be in front of a piece of art (in this case, a sculpture shaped like the outline of the US).
This shot is from last year's Midwinter Conference in Philadelphia. What a difference a year makes!

Some more Florida pix
These pix are from my mom's camera...
Hi, big cuz! Hi, lil' cuz!
Oh, hello...I'd like to recommend a book to you...
I'm reading it intently right now...
It's my dad's new book on genealogy reference and it was blowing my mind, dude...I had to put it down on the chaise lounge before my head exploded.
It's really, really good!
Now, now, ladies...there's enough of me to go around.
Daddy and daughter stare sensitively off into the distance.
I highly recommend Florida for a winter getaway.

Baby, it's cold inside!
Even with the heat turned up, our apartment is pretty chilly. And you may have heard that Chicago is in the middle of a cold snap of record-setting proportions. To stay warm, Josie is dressed in kind of a kooky outfit...kooky but cute!
Concentrating real hard on this hat string helps me stay warm...now, let's see...the rabbit goes around the tree and into the hole...wait, how do I tie a half hitch with a square knot again?
Let's get this straight, okay? It was my mom who dressed me.
A chilly apartment isn't so bad...I'm snug in my Auntie Beth sweater and have plenty of toys. Plus, I don't have any teeth yet for chattering.

Stuck in Reverse
A busy Saturday
Josie spent some time in the Jolly Jumper on Saturday. She's pretty drooly in this picture.
Her hair is really starting to come in, although the front is still a little thin.
Later, she moved into the living room where you can see there is no shortage of toys to choose from.
Smiling up at the camera is fun, too!
Zeeb sits near where Josie is playing and watches birds out in the snow.
You can see the fog on the window...it wasn't cold enough yesterday for it to form into the interior frost that is usually does. There has been a delay with the new window we ordered, but hopefully phrases like "interior frost" will be stricken from our vocabulary once it gets installed later next month.
Picking out a toy from the box.
I can flap my arms like a bird!

Double shot of hat-cuteness
Josie and the spoon
We ate a few meals at the diner across the street from the hotel, Maggie Mae's. The waitress there gave Josie a plastic spoon and it turned out to be one of her favorite toys of the trip.
In this photo, it looks like she's issuing a stern statement, à la the Godfather, while simultaneously finishing off the last of a meal. "Someday--and that day may never come--I'll call upon you to do a service for me."

Kisses for Josie
