Josie has officially moved out of the welterweight category and into junior heavyweight. Yesterday (Monday) at the pediatrician's she weighed in at over 6 pounds (6 pounds, 2 ounces, to be exact). Babies are supposed to be back at their birth weight (hers was 5 lbs 15 oz) within 10 days of birth and be gaining about an ounce a day. With today her two-week birthday, she is right on track.
She also apparently likes to impress the pediatrician. You may remember that during her last visit she turned her head. This time she rolled over while the doctor and Jack and I were talking. The pediatrician pointed to her and said "look at that...rolling over...that's a four-month skill." That's our daughter. Then she said her first words and started walking...April Fools! She really did roll over, though.
She is definitely worth all of the sleeplessness, anxiety, additional health woes and any other hardships we've been enduring lately. Thanks to everyone who has been sending in their support and concern for me and my wound vac and blood pressure issues. There have certainly been some low points in trying to deal with all of this [on top of dealing with a newborn], but things are looking up. The visiting nurse said everything looks like it is healing well and I should hopefully get off of the wound vac sooner [closer to two weeks] rather than later [closer to six weeks]. Let's hope she's right. Later today I have another doctor's appointment to check on my blood pressure which has remained high even after all of the preeclampsia and birth. Hopefully that [and the swelling] will be under control soon, too.
"Puh-leaze, Mom...stop taking pictures. The light isn't even that great."
Josie plots to take over the world..."Excellent."
